The Community Closet is open! The Closet celebrated a grand opening and ribbon cutting on Friday, August 27, in conjunction with Iowa City Area Business Partnership. Thank you to all who helped us celebrate!
The Closet offers a selection of in-season clothes and shoes and for all ages throughout the year. Winter outerwear is limited to our coat distribution event in the fall. Families in the Pantry’s service area can shop for five items of clothing per family member each month. Bundles with three pairs of socks and three pairs of underwear per person can also be picked up three times per year.
The Community Closet is located in the building west of the Pantry’s Growing Together Garden. It is open during regular weekday Pantry shopping hours: Monday-Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to noon, and Tuesday/Thursday from 3:00-6:00 p.m.
Donations of new or gently used, in-season items can be donated to NLCP between Monday-Thursday from noon-5:00 p.m. We cannot accept items with noticeable wear, out of season items (other than winter outerwear), used socks, or used underwear. Volunteers are always needed to help sort clothing and serve families during open hours. Learn more about volunteering at the Pantry.
